Description
--Verbascum thapsus • leaf--
With its unmistakably soft, fuzzy leaves, mullein has a long history of traditional use as a gentle respiratory herb.
traditionally used to support:
-Respiratory tract health
-Comfortable, clear breathing
-Healthy mucus clearance
-Dry, irritated-feeling airways
Mullein can be an excellent herb to have on hand as we move into the changing seasons, when cooler weather arrives and all those fall sniffles, coughs and irritated throats tend to start making their rounds.
One of the things that makes mullein leaf so special is its mucilage - soothing plant compounds that become slippery and gel-like in the presence of water. This demulcent quality is part of why mullein has traditionally been valued for soothing dry, irritated tissues of the throat and respiratory tract.
Mullein is also traditionally regarded as a gentle expectorant - helping support the bodys natural movement & clearance of mucus. This combination of soothing & respiratory support is what makes mullein such a great herb to reach for during cough and cold season.
***Note: This is an alcohol-based herbal tincture. I want to make that clear for anyone who chooses to avoid alcohol for personal reasons. Please choose what feels appropriate for you.
